JSC “Ukrainian Railways” (UR) managed to transport 100,000 more passengers in July 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, reaching a total of 2.8 million, despite shelling and evacuation stops, according to a company statement released on Monday.
“In July, the ‘Ukrainian Railways’ team had to reschedule train services almost daily due to shelling, arrange evacuation stops, promptly alter wagon turnaround times, and find opportunities to schedule additional services precisely when demand was at its peak,” the company reported on Telegram.
It was noted that on July 26, “Ukrainian Railways” transported a record 102,000 passengers in a single day, the highest for the summer.
The company further added that the record-holding train in July was the high-speed “Intercity+” No. 705/706 Kyiv-Przemysl, which carried nearly 60,000 passengers over the month.
According to “Ukrainian Railways” data, over the two summer months, 5.3 million passengers utilized the company’s trains. This group included over 7,000 children’s groups, totaling 171,000 children, who most frequently traveled by rail to Tatariv-Bukovel, Vorokhta, and Mukachevo.
Regarding adults and families, the most popular routes remained Kyiv-Lviv, Kyiv-Odesa, and Kyiv-Kharkiv, for which additional trains were most frequently allocated.
“There is still one month of summer ahead. We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that even under the most challenging circumstances, Ukrainians can reach their loved ones,” emphasized “Ukrainian Railways.”
At the beginning of June, the company informed the agency “Interfax-Ukraine” that the passenger transportation summer season this year would be more demanding than the previous year due to increased demand and a reduction in the number of available wagons.
Overall, “Ukrainian Railways” also indicated that they planned to transport 7 million passengers throughout the three summer months.
